"Shangri-La" is a song written by Ron Nasty , released by The Rutles in 1968. It was re-released in 1996 in Archaeology Highlights. The song was performed live on The David Frostbite Show, which aired on 8 September 1968, long after the single had been made available. In the US, the single was released under the name of Hey Dude.
Ron Nasty first wrote this for Dirk McQuickly's son, Sharn. The song was originally titled "Sharn-La", till it was changed to "Shangri-La" as McQuickly nearly sued Nasty for using his yet-unborn son's name.
